Music
Music is a vital part of our daily curriculum at Battery Park Montessori. In the classroom, we introduce children to a variety of songs and nursery rhymes in Mandarin, Spanish, and English. We use music to support transitions, help children self-regulate, and expand their vocabulary. Music specialists also visit to provide formal lessons in voice and rhythm, enriching our children's musical experience.
Movement
Movement is at the heart of Montessori education. We dedicate ample time to helping children develop both large and fine motor skills, while encouraging graceful movement within the classroom and beyond. Through freedom of movement, children learn to respect others and understand the impact of their actions. Outdoor play is an essential part of each day, with our outdoor patio serving as an extension of the classroom, providing children with the chance to refine motor skills and collaborate with peers. We also invite specialists, like yoga instructors, to introduce alternative ways to develop gross and fine motor skills.
