COVID Safety Protocols for Summer Camp 2021
UPDATED: February 18, 2021
We will be using the same COVID safety measures used all year for onsite instruction at both of our downtown NYC schools, where we have been successful in keeping our learning live and onsite this year.
Our team has developed and implemented safety regulations and procedures to be able to successfully run our summer camp, despite the limitations of COVID. Using the lessons from our successful experience this year, and by maximizing the use of our secure outdoor spaces, we are prepared for a joyful indoor and outdoor friend-making experience as campers and staff connect, share laughs, and play freely.
Families should be aware that this information is live, updated as needed and prepared for Green Ivy Summer Camp by the leadership team, in conjunction with medical experts and based on governmental guidelines. As the COVID-19 pandemic evolves, so will these protocols.
We will keep you updated, through this page and via email, as changes are necessary and with as much advance notice as possible. It is essential that we, as a community, all adhere to the safety measures and guidelines in place at any given time. In addition, let’s all work as a community to ensure safety while building an environment of warmth, mutual support, and understanding. Together, we will not only make the most of the situation, but do it the Green Ivy way, uplifting one another, learning more about each other and the world, and building a special bond through a unique and once-in-a-lifetime experience.
COVID Health & Safety Camp Protocols
We value health and safety above all else in all of our programs, whether part of our schools, after schools, or summer and vacation camps. Our COVID-related protocols and policies are identical across all of our programming.
To protect you, your children and our staff, we will use several protocols throughout Summer Camp. You can find these detailed in the Reopening Plan we issued this past Fall for our two downtown school locations as we prepared to launch on-campus instruction.
Although some of the program details (arrival and dismissal times, etc.) will be different for Summer Camp, the same practices and requirements will apply to camp.
Our basic COVID health and safety protocols include:
- health screenings required prior to arrival each day
- all children and staff wearing masks at all times, except when eating
- all children and staff socially-distanced by 6 feet at all times except when a staff member must have physical proximity to support a child physically or emotionally
- mandatory quarantine and testing when and if symptoms are identified
Again, we encourage you to review our protocols in detail in our school Reopening Plan and ask any questions you may have.
Of course, the COVID era is a dynamic one, and circumstances can change frequently. We will ensure that you are updated as any changes to our policies or protocols occur, including protocols influenced by the availability of COVID-related vaccines.
