Sandra King

English Teacher

Sandra is a born and raised New Yorker who developed a deep affinity for Vermont while earning her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and an M.Ed. in Early Childhood Special Education at the University of Vermont. During this time, she independently researched the Montessori Method to integrate it with Special Education practices. Driven by her passion for lifelong learning and professional growth, she has completed formal infant-toddler training through the WSMS-TEP program and continues to pursue dual licensure in New York State.

Teaching has always been more than just a career for Sandra—it’s her calling. After attending a college-preparatory school in Rye, New York, for eight years, she became determined to use the confidence gained in an all-girls setting to advocate for children’s rights, inclusive education, and the integration of multiple educational philosophies to support early intervention. Her positive school experience reinforced her belief that "All Children Can Learn," a principle she is committed to sharing with every child and family she encounters. With her love of learning in mind, she is dedicated to sharing the joy that can be found through learning.

Over the past decade, Sandra has worked with children in various settings, including camps and schools as a counselor and lead teacher, as well as in homes as a nanny. Her six years as a nanny deepened her appreciation for supporting a child’s learning within the context of the whole family. Now in her third year at Battery Park Montessori, Sandra eagerly anticipates welcoming new and returning families this fall.

When she’s not teaching, Sandra enjoys practicing hot yoga, traveling, strengthening her skills as a Polyglot, and
spending time with her kitty Miss Sabrina.
