Kate Benini
Parent Liaison, Executive Assistant to the Heads of School & Directory of Auxiliary Programming
Kate’s relationship with education has always been personal. Adopted from China at age two, she quite literally grew up in a school — spending her early childhood in the elementary classrooms where her mother taught music in Bayside, Queens. Later, moving to rural Vermont gave her the opposite experience: smaller schools, close community, and a different pace of learning. Experiencing both environments shaped her belief that children thrive when they feel a genuine sense of belonging.
She began her career at Pine Street School before joining Battery Park Montessori, first working in the classroom across multiple age groups. That classroom foundation continues to shape the way she approaches her work today — creating thoughtful routines, clear communication, and environments where children feel secure and capable.
At Battery Park Montessori, Kate helps shape the parts of the school day where community often grows strongest — extended care, enrichment programs, and summer camp. She focuses on making these experiences feel just as intentional and nurturing as the classroom, while supporting families so school life feels consistent and easy to navigate.
Kate holds degrees in Inclusive Early Childhood Education and Childhood Education, along with a degree in Spanish and a minor in music. Her approach is grounded in meeting children where they are and partnering closely with families so school feels reassuring and supportive.
Outside of school, Kate enjoys being outdoors, exploring neighborhoods across New York City, trying new foods and experiences, traveling, and spending time with her dog, Snowy.
