Emily Thomas

Emily Thomas is the Assistant Head of School and a Casa English Teacher. She holds dual B.A. degrees in Psychology and Theatre, as well as her Montessori certification for children ages 3–6. She is originally from South Carolina, and moved to NYC in 2011.

A Montessori student herself from ages 2–12, Emily brings a personal connection to the philosophy that shaped her own education and continues to inspire her teaching. She believes every child has the capacity to become a joyful, self-motivated learner when offered meaningful, engaging work in a nurturing environment. Her goal as a teacher is not only for the intellectual growth of her students, but also for fostering their curiosity, empathy, and sense of self.

When she’s not teaching, Emily enjoys time in nature, swimming, running and hiking with her partner, and playing with her kittens Moon and River.
