Battery Park Montessori: 2020 Reopening Plan

Planning to Be Open, Live, On-Site, and Full-Time in September

This Reopening Plan information represents a living document prepared for Green Ivy Schools (Pine Street School and Battery Park Montessori) by the leadership team, in conjunction with medical experts and based on governmental guidelines. As the COVID-19 pandemic evolves, so will this plan.

We will keep you updated, through this page and via email, as changes are necessary and with as much advance notice as possible. It is essential that we, as a community, all adhere to the safety measures and guidelines in place at any given time. In addition, let’s all work as a community to ensure safety while building an environment of warmth, mutual support, and understanding. Together, we will not only make the most of the situation, but do it the Green Ivy way, uplifting one another, learning more about each other and the world, and building a special bond through a unique and once-in-a-lifetime experience.

LATEST UPDATES:
7/9/2020
Dear Green Ivy Community,
In response to yesterday’s DOE announcement regarding NYC schools (NYC.gov announcement here), we are pleased to confirm that as of today, we are planning to be open for live programming full-time this Fall. As previously stated, we also plan to offer a virtual option for all of our classes for any and all students who are not on-site. The recent DOE decisions limiting school days will not impact our full-time academic schedule. Rest assured that all Green Ivy program decisions will continue to be made in accordance with all CDC guidelines and after thorough consultation with our COVID medical expert. The health and safety of our entire community is, as always, our first priority, and within those safety measures, we are deeply committed to the integrity of our educational programming for which families know and value us.

Warmly,
Jennifer

Adaptation, Vision & Unity

Dear Green Ivy Families,

This is the first of a weekly message I will send to provide context and perspective as we navigate this new world together.

The theme of this week's message is adaptation. I'm sure you appreciate why. Adaptation is the undercurrent of our lives right now. Practically every minute of every day, we find ourselves adjusting to circumstances on every front, personal and professional.

Decisionmaking in the COVID Era

Dear Green Ivy Families,

You are very much on my mind these days, as I think about the incredibly complex matrix of decisions you are faced with in the coming weeks and months. I also recognize that a good chunk of the decisions you face are driven by where you are geographically during COVID, or perhaps where you feel you should be, and I recognize that school eventually plays a part in all of those decisions.
