Chess The Chess At Three approach teaches much more than the rudimentary rules of chess. Chess At Three students also learn: The Importance of Sportsmanship, Literacy, Chess History, and Math, just to name a few. Lessons include interactive moments, physical movements (chessercizes), and guidelines for game play at each level of development. Chess at Three utilizes a unique cast of characters, in fun and interactive stories. Through these stories children progressively learn to play and develop a love for chess. Our stories focus on why chess pieces move in their own unique ways and are supported by activities that cement chess knowledge in your child's mind.
Ceramics The integration of art in a child's development can advance creativity and imagination while refining important motor skills. Clay is an enthralling and tactile medium for children to express their artistic creativity. Students will learn basic skills in hand building pottery. Each week, your child will create a fun, unique piece of art they can bring home and be proud of. We will introduce a new project or idea each class, presenting different clay techniques the children can use as a starting point to create a piece of art that is all their own. They will also be encouraged to share their goals for the day’s ceramics project. Typical Class Projects include: Pinch pots, Coil pots, and Mugs.
Basketball In our "Little Dribblers" classes we will be getting your children introduced to the basic fundamentals of basketball. Offensively, we will teach them basics on how to hold, pass, and dribble the basketball as well as work on shooting form and stance. Defensively, we will teach them how to get in a defensive stance as well as slide their feet to guard the ball. Your children will walk away with a basic understanding of the introductory skills to the game of basketball, all while having a ton of fun!
Ballet Bring your aspiring ballerinas to learn ballet from the best, a Royal Academy of registered teacher. We set our standard high while nurturing the love of dance and the joy of developing creative expression, strength, grace and technique. Students will develop positive self-esteem, great friendships and the ability to work successfully with others through dance, all while learning safe dance techniques based on sports medicine. About Geraldine Grace Johns Geraldine is Manhattan's first Royal Acadamy of Dance registered teacher with 18 years or teaching experience. She studied with the Royal Academy of Dance at their headquarters in Battersea Park, London and taught in Clapham, Putney and Surrey. Back in Auckland, she ran her dance academy with 200 students and is the founder of the Alana Haines Australasian Awards.
Semi-Private Piano Enjoy a semi-private lesson with just two students. Your child will spend half the session learning through worksheets and activities and the other half practicing on the keyboard. All children will be encouraged to learn basic music & piano skills: introduction to piano, listening, singing, clapping, followed by note reading & writing, music theory, history, piano/keyboard skills, and much more. During the small group classes, children also learn social skills by learning music together in a very positive and friendly environment.
Tennis Our USTA Quick Start format makes learning tennis easier and more fun than ever! Our programs introduce tennis sized right for kids so they develop skills and have fun right from the start. Using modified equipment and courts tailored to a child’s size and age, kids will learn, rally, play and compete quickly and in a way that is both enjoyable and rewarding.
