INFANT | Tuesday | 3:00-3:45pm
In this class, one of Battery Park Montessori’s teachers will introduce parents to the fundamentals of the Montessori approach and philosophy. Parents will gain insight into mindfully observing their children and ideas on how to prepare developmentally appropriate and stimulating activities for their infants. This class will offer parents the opportunity to see the Montessori approach in action and witness how even the youngest children begin to build concentration and independence through experiences in the Montessori prepared environment. Parents will learn the science behind the Montessori materials and how they meet and challenge babies physical and cognitive skills at each stage of their early development.
This class is designed for children from 3 months old until walking independently. This is a caregiver participation class.
TODDLER | Tuesday | 4:15-5:00pm
In this class, lead by one of Battery Park Montessori's own teachers, children and parents will be introduced to activities designed to foster curiosity, concentration, and independence. Children will build confidence and skills through work with authentic Montessori activities and materials. Families will gain an understanding of Montessori philosophy, mindful observation of their child, and insight on preparing an environment that fosters concentration and supports and enhances their child’s innate learning potential. This class will be held in our Toddler classroom, and is designed for children who have begun walking independently to age two.
For children walking to 2 years. This is a caregiver participation class.
NORY STEM | AGES 2-6
In NORY Science & Engineering, we teach students "why" then "what" to help them become more inquisitive and to show them how to look at the world differently. Through hands-on experiments and collaborative projects, our class not only builds a foundational understanding of science and engineering but also a love of each at an early age. The course covers brand new topics such as: exploring non-Newtonian substances that change state with pressure and investigating the properties of crazy potions, helping to demonstrate chemical reactions. Along the way, children learn about the Scientific Method using a controlled variable and study the method of the design thinking process. Families receive a weekly recap note, that highlight key learning points, to help keep track of how their scientists are progressing.
THURSDAY | 3:00-3:45pm
CHESS AT THREE | AGES 2-6
The Chess At Three approach teaches much more than the rudimentary rules of chess. Chess At Three students also learn: The Importance of Sportsmanship, Literacy, Chess History, and Math, just to name a few. Lessons include interactive moments, physical movements (chessercizes), and guidelines for game play at each level of development. Chess at Three utilizes a unique cast of characters, in fun and interactive stories. Through these stories children progressively learn to play and develop a love for chess. Our stories focus on why chess pieces move in their own unique ways and are supported by activities that cement chess knowledge in your child's mind.
Open to children 2-6 years. This is a drop-off class.
MONDAY | 3:00-3:45pm
